The girls reported to Columbia Friday, will have social activities Saturday and Sunday. They begin their first day in competition Monday when all meet with judges for the all important interviews.
Lanie Hudson, Miss Greater Greer, was first runnerup in 2008 in the Miss South Carolina Teen contest representing Spartanburg. Hudson, ironically that year, crowned Sidney Sill as her princess. Sill was Miss South Carolina Teen in 2012.
Hudson has since graduated from Clemson University where her father and grandfather starred in football while playing for Clemson.
Whittany Evans and Amanda Bishop are from Greer competing as Miss Blue Ridge Foothills and Miss Wade Hampton Taylors, respectively.
Barrett Tyler, from Taylors, is Miss Anderson County. And Analouisa Valencia as Miss Lyman, is the first openly gay Miss South Carolina competing.
The competition is at Columbia’s Township Auditorium. The field will be cut in each division to the top 16, then top 11, top 16 and the winners will be announced Saturday.
The 2014 Miss American pageant will be Sept. 15 in Atlantic City, N.J. The Miss American Outstanding Teen pageant is in August in Orlando, Fla.
