One of the singers will be eliminated after online voting closes Monday at noon. The finals are scheduled next Friday in the last week of Tunes on Trade.
All three gave impressive performances that at times overwhelmed the judges. Each participant had its own cheering section. The singers performed one 90’s-forward selection and one beach song.
Kayla Kershaw
90’s forward
“Jesus Takes the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood
Beach
“Wouldn’t It Be Nice” by The Beach Boys
Comments: Judges were complimentary of Kershaw’s eye contact with the judges and her growth as a singer during the competition. A suggestion was made to not dismiss the verses during her “Jesus Takes The World” rendition of Carrie Underwood’s song.
Anna McCleer
90’s forward
“Baby” by Justin Bieber
Beach
“Surfin U.S.A.” by The Beach Boys
Comments: “Baby” by Justin Bieber had judges praise McCleer for successfully delivering the rap lyrics. “The rap was cool” and “I didn’t know you were a rapper” judges said. One judge suggested she sell the broken heart part of the song. “I didn’t feel our heart was broken,” a judge said.
Megan Watts
90’s forward
“Cowboy Take Me Away” by Dixie Chicks
Beach
“My Guy” by Diana Ross
Comments: Watts’ performance drew raves from “that was a great job”, “presence on stage was so confident in what you did” to her “pitch being perfect” for “Cowboys Take Me Away” by the Dixie Chicks.
