Olivia Wells, a junior voice major at Anderson University, won the 2016 Greer Idol Season 10 championship and the $2,000 first prize Friday night.
Wells added the Greer Idol championship to her competitions won in college voice contests and as a lead in a school opera last spring.
Wells beat semifinalists Will Rawls and Andre Webb in the final Tunes in the Park summer event.
Encore performed for the spectators sandwiched around Greer Idol contestants performing three songs.
Wells and the contestants performed one selection to an ‘80s song to help promote Greer Cultural Arts’ free production of 1980s Music Revue scheduled July 29-31 at the Cannon Centre. Friday and Saturday shows are 7 p.m. and Sunday is 2 p.m.
