Mark Hopper was elected to Greer City Council District 3 Tuesday night.
Hopper polled 81-52 (61%) over challenger Andrew Hopkins with all five districts reporting.
Hopper, a newcomer running for city council, is owner of Hopper Financial and Abbott’s Frozen Custard. He serves on the City Planning Commission.
Hopkins is an attorney for South Carolina Legal Services representing low-income clients on civil cases. He moved to Greer this summer.
Unopposed and elected to new 4-year terms are:
• Mayor Rick Danner will serve his sixth term since being elected in 1999.
• Wryley Bettis, District 5 city council, will serve his sixth term since elected in 1999.
• Jay Arrowood, District 1 city council, will serve his fifth term since elected in 2003.
Danner and Bettis, both elected in 1999, will serve their sixth term. Arrowood, elected in 2003, will serve his fifth term.
Gene Gibson, also unopposed as a commissioner, will serve a new 6-year term, with the Greer Commissioner of Public Works. Gibson has been a commissioner since 1982.
