Kieffer Mendoza won the 2013 Greer Idol championship and the $1,500 winning first price.
Kieffer Mendoza, the guitar player with the silky voice, won 2013 Greer Idol and the $1,500 first place check tonight at the City of Greer amphitheater.
Mendoza had to beat out five other Idol contestants as the competition lost two weeks because of rain and was threatened to throw the final into a quandary with an early afternoon shower.
The semifinals had the judges raving about Mendoza’s voice and style. “Your voice is so silky,” said one judge. The blend of your voice and guitar matched very well,” said another.
Mendoza is an accomplished musician and singer. He is a worship leader at LifeSong Church’s youth group, “Shaken”.
He won the Greenville County Best Singer in the District competition this year in the rock genre. He was a finalist in the 2012 competition.
Mendoza, a member of the Greer High School choir, competed with his classmates in the Honor Choir at the South Carolina State Festival, where they finished third.
Writing his own songs and performing them is one of Mendoza’s favorite hobbies.
