Running back Dre Williams and quarterback Trey Houston packed a 1-2 punch Friday night to lead No. 7-ranked Greer past Daniel, 42-23, in a non-region high school football game at Central.
Greer (3-1) hosts Woodruff (2-2), in its final non-region opponent next Friday at Dooley Field. Daniel (1-3) plays at Westside (2-2).
Williams rushed for 133 yards, averaging 8.7 yards per carry. Houston completed 17 of 21 pass attempts, rushed for 91 yards – 6 runs were for 10 yards or more – and threw for two touchdowns.
The Yellow Jackets defense held Daniel to 139 yards total defense. Quarterback Tyler Venables, son of Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables, was held to 30 yards passing and 79 yards rushing.
