Northwood is World Series-bound

Northwood from Taylors, the South Carolina state champion, beat Virginia Thursday to win the Southeast Regional Little League Championship at Warner Robbins, Ga., 7-0.

Alex Edmondson hit two home runs and pitched a no-hitter to lead Northwood to the win.

Northwood is the first South Carolina team since 1950 to advance to the Little League World Series. Clinton advanced in 1950 and Charleston in 1949 as the only state teams to advance.

Northwood went unbeaten in the tournament, winning all four games.
