Oyster Roast, pound for pound, best bargain in Upstate

STAFF REPORTS
Published on Friday, February 24, 2012

Eat a light lunch today and forget about dinner.

There is 1,000 pounds of oysters, hundreds of pounds of shrimp and more seafood gumbo than probably every cooked in Greer. We'll call it an unofficial record for a shrimp boil. All that adds up to an all-you-can-eat seafood extravaganza.

Come on out to the 8th annual Oyster Roast tonight at 842 S. Buncombe Road, next to Greer Memorial Hospital. There will be music, beverages from soft drinks to wine and beer. The event is 6-9 p.m.

Leadership Greer XXXII will benefit from the proceeds which will help fund its 2012 project of providing The Disabled American Veterans of Greer Chapter 39 with a mobile booth for events to distribute information and provide services to veterans.

Tickets are $30 in advance at the Greer Chamber of Commerce on Trade Street and $40 at the door. The event is for members and non-members.
