Vincent Cicino excels at National Academic Quizbowl Tournament

Vincent Cicino, Captain of the Riverside High School Academic Team, was the top-ranked student from South Carolina at the 2018 High School National Championship Tournament. 

Vincent came in 33 out of 1,664 competitors from across the United States, placing in the top 2 percent nationally. 

At this Quizbowl tournament, teams who had qualified by winning State championships competed against each other by answering questions on a wide range of topics including science, geography, history, art, and current events. 

The tournament was held in Atlanta over Memorial Day Weekend.

Riverside High School Academic Team Competes in National Tournament

 The Riverside High School Academic Team competed over Memorial Day weekend at the 2018 High School National Championship Tournament in Atlanta. Team members Mark Tolchinsky, Erden Ucok (Co-Captain), Vincent Cicino (Captain), Nayha Hussain, Allison Watts, and Kyle Obuszewski competed by answering questions on a wide range of topics. 

 The RHS Academic Team had qualified for this tournament by taking First Place at the SC State Competition at Clemson University as well as Second Place at the State Competition at the University of South Carolina. The RHS team finished in the top 40 percent of 352 similarly-qualified teams from across the United States.
