RMS student project combines art and history

Riverside Middle students hard at work on their their drinking vessels.

As part of their unit on ancient Greece, all 6th-grade social studies students are completing a project which combines the disciplines of art and history.

Students are making a model of a Greecian Drinking Vessel from the geometric period, 900- 700 B.C.

Riverside's Cummings named USTF 2014 S.C. girls cross country coach of the year

Eric Cummings of Riverside High School was named, by U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association, the inaugural girls South Carolina High School Cross Country Coach of the Year.
 
 

The U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association has named Riverside High School’s Eric Cummings the inaugural girls South Carolina High School Cross Country Coach of the Year.

Cummings coached Riverside to the school’s first AAAA South Carolina High School League championship when the girls dominated the state meet. Kate Ambrose won the individual championship. Riverside won the 2013 championship in AAA.

Hazardous cold delays Thursday school openings

Greenville County Schools will operate on a three-hour delay Thursday due to forecasts for extremely cold temperatures and a wind chill advisory. Special education half-day programs for three-year-old children are cancelled.
