Bass Pro Shops acquires land for development on Greer's border

Bojangles' opened its newest Greer store Monday on Highway 101, directly across from BMW. A Spinx will be built this winter next door with properties bordering the Bass Pro Shops development scheduled to open in 2016.
 

Bass Pro Shops closed on its purchase of 75 acres of land Thursday on the border of Greer in Spartanburg County at the intersection of I-85 and Highway 101.

The price was not disclosed between Bass Pro Shops and Milliken Enterprises. The imminent partnership was announced in April.

Bojangles' opens Monday across from BMW

Allen Johnston, co-owner with his wife, Lee Ann, opens the second Bojangles' in Greer within the past two months. They open a Bojangles' across from BMW on Monday.
 

Bojangles' will open its second Greer restaurant within two months Monday morning.

The restaurant opens at 5 a.m. across from BMW at 1487 Highway 101 South. Owners Lee Ann and Allen Johnston opened Bojangles' at Buncombe in August. The Johnstons own five Bojangles' in the Greenville-Spartanburg area.

Norfolk Southern adds Saturday outbound train from Inland Port

Norfolk Southern has added a Saturday outbound train from the Greer Inland Port to Charleston. 
 

Norfolk Southern has added a Saturday outbound train from the Greer Inland Port to Charleston. That increases outbound NS service to six trains a week with a Saturday cutoff of 5 p.m. and availability in Charleston by noon the following Monday.

The schedule of inbound trains per week remains at five while the container gates at the South Carolina Inland Port are open 24/7 for truck activity.

BMW MINI brand to sponsor Deep Orange 7 concept at CU-ICAR

Clemson student engineers test-drive the frame and working parts of their creation, Deep Orange 3.
 

The seventh generation of the innovative Deep Orange program, a vehicle prototype designed and conceived by automotive engineering students in the department of automotive engineering at the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research (CU-ICAR), will be powered by the BMW Group.

For the seventh iteration of Deep Orange, the goal is to develop a blank-sheet fully functional vehicle concept for the MINI brand targeting the U.S. market with the BMW Group in Munich as the primary sponsor. The objective is to create a revolutionary MINI technology demonstrator facing the potential requirements to come within the next decade as part of a collaborative real-world educational experience (Deep Orange 7).
