Thirty students received the doctor of chiropractic degree from Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg on Dec. 15.
Catherine Susan Lapinski of Texas and Jasen T. Van Dyke of Pennsylvania, recipients of the Milton W. Garfunkel Award for the December and March classes, respectively, presented farewell addresses to their classmates.
The top awards were presented to:
• Academic Achievement Award, Melanie Craig of Maine (December class), and Leslie Suzanne Sizemore of Virginia (March class).
• Clinical Excellence Award, Joshua Adam Cebula of Michigan (December class) and Edgar V. Mendoza of Texas (March).
• The Service Distinction Award, Elizabeth Grace and Asha Maharajh Balwah of North Carolina (December) and Sandra Von Martin of Michigan and Robert De Stefano Jr. of Florida (March).
• Lapinski and Martin each received the B.J. Palmer Philosophy Distinction Award.
The commencement address was given by Gilles A. LaMarche, B.S., D.C., a former practicing chiropractor and educational administrator; author and professional speaker; and a certified personal development coach.
David Marraccini, D.C., class of 1978, delivered the charge to the graduates.
