The Bob Jones Academy Speech and Debate Team has been awarded the National Speech and Debate Association's Leading Chapter Award, and Jonathan Savoy of Greer has qualified for the National Speech and Debate tournament.

The award was presented to BJA at the South Carolina District Qualifier tournament hosted by Riverside High School on March 20-21.

Savoy, a senior, will compete at the national tournament in Dallas in June. He is one of 24 South Carolina students to attend the national tournament and is one of two Lincoln Douglas debaters who will represent the state and compete against the top debaters from all 50 states.

The Leading Chapter Award is considered one of the National Speech and Debate Association's highest awards recognizing the ongoing membership growth and the success of the team.
