GSP service, passenger activity continues to soar
Air service and passenger activity continue to grow at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP).

Overall aircraft operations (takeoffs and landings) during June increased 19.1 percent compared to June 2018 and operations for the first half of the year increased 14.1 percent over the same period last year.

GSP extended its streak of consecutive months with increased passenger activity to 21 and its streak of double-digit growth to eight months in a row.

During June, GSP served 234,743 total passengers; an increase of 14.9 percent compared to the same month last year.

For the first six months of 2019, GSP served more than 1.2 million total passengers; an increase of 15.5 percent.

“It is gratifying to see Upstate travelers taking advantage of the many new travel options introduced at GSP over the past year,” said Dave Edwards, GSP’s president and CEO. “This support helps us demonstrate to airlines that demand exists for additional flights and nonstop destinations in the future.” J

June activity was highlighted by the addition of new nonstop service to Denver by United Airlines and additional seat capacity added by Delta Air Lines to Atlanta.

For the first six months of the year, GSP’s cargo activity saw a slight decrease of 1.1 percent (58 million pounds) compared to the first half of 2018 (58.6 million pounds).
