Cathryne "Kitty" Turner Leonard, 87, of 112 N. Lakeview Drive, widow of William A. Leonard, went home to be with her Lord on November 26, 2014.

Born November 10, 1927 in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Ruby Day Turner.

After graduating from Winthrop College in 1947, Kitty moved to Reidville, S.C. to teach in the high school where she met and married Bill in December 1949.

She taught in Spartanburg School District 5 Schools for several years before taking time off to raise their children.

Kitty returned to teaching in 1964 at the newly consolidated Spartanburg County School District 6 High School, later named Dorman High School, teaching there until her retirement in 1987.

She was co-founder of Dorman's Blue Belles with Myra Greene and helped Mary Frances Gosnell with the Dorman High School Choir.

During her time at Dorman she was affectionately referred to by her students as "Lady".

Kitty and Bill traveled extensively throughout the mid 90's, bringing home entertaining stories to their family.

Kitty will be remembered by her family and friends as a woman of great faith, honor and character, and optimist who started and ended her day with a smile. The privilege to call you "Mother" was our blessing.
