Dorothy (Diki) Kagel, peacefully joined The Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, just 10-days following the celebration of her 90th birthday.

She was born in New York City to Fred and Emma Volk. Diki had been a resident of Greenville, SC since 1968.

Diki started the Greenville Driving School, which she owned and operated for 40+ years. She was well known as the driving instructor who could effectively teach nearly anyone to drive.

She specialized in older or especially nervous or disabled driving students; truly amazing at her work.

Diki was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior all those years.

She was a devout Christian, a devoted wife for 67 years, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Diki loved challenging physical activities and the great outdoors. She was an expert scuba diver, fencer, accomplished golfer, water skier, snow skier, talented bowler, square dancer, and in her youth she was a skilled gymnast and tap dancer.

Diki also enjoyed duck and deer hunting with her husband Ray.

Any type of fishing was even a greater passion.

Diki Kagel enriched the lives of everyone that knew her; she was uncommonly intelligent, extremely generous to her family and friends, quick as a wink to laugh, to praise, and to love family, friends, and strangers alike. She will be long remembered and sorely missed.

Surviving:

Surviving are her loving 3 sons, Raymond (Ray) Kagel, Jr., (Susan) of Rigby, Idaho, Richard Kagel, (Carla) of Healdsburg, California, and Gary Kagel (Donna) of the home in Greenville; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Diki was predeceased by her husband Ray Kagel (Sr.), a daughter, Barbara, her brother Ralph Volk, her sister Muriel (Bobby), and her sister Gladys.
