John Jones, 82, of 22 Windcrest Dr., died August 18, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
A native of Greer, son of the late Nick Jones and Paraskiva Ilich Jones, he was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and retired from the Civil Service.
A kind and intellectually curious person, Mr. Jones was able to indulge his passion for reading, writing, history and travel throughout his life.
Stationed in Japan and Germany during his service with the Air Force, Mr. Jones traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia.
Through his love of reading and writing, Mr. Jones enjoyed many hours advancing his knowledge of American and World History.
He was well known for his enjoyment of good food and stimulating conversation and leaves behind a lasting legacy of a loving family and fond memories for those among his many friends and loved ones.
Surviving:
Surviving are his wife, Desanka Vukovich Jones of the home; and two sons, Steven Jones (Juliette) of Austin, Texas and Eric Jones of Mauldin.
He was predeceased by a brother, George Jones and a sister, Cleopatra Skinner.
Funeral Services:
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Mountain View Cemetery, conducted by Father Pistolis.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at The Wood Mortuary.
