LaVerne Cothran Lister, 96, wife of the late John Frederick Lister, passed away March 29, 2023.

A native of Startex, S.C., daughter of the late Herb and Callie Owens Cothran, she was a retired executive assistant in the office of the president of the University of South Carolina, a former member of First Baptist Columbia for many years and a present member of First Baptist North Spartanburg.

Surviving:

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Laura Lister Hamlet and Dr. Michael Hamlet of Spartanburg, S.C.; two grandchildren, Allison Hamlet Peters (Ben) of Johns Island, S.C., and Andrew Hamlet (Jessica) of Spartanburg, S.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Harlow and Hudson Hamlet.

Mrs. Lister was predeceased by one great-grandson, Benjamin Peters; and two sisters, Ola Mae Cothran, and Bunt Nelson.

Funeral Services:

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2023, at First Baptist North Spartanburg conducted by Dr. Michael Hamlet.

Visitation will be held following the service at the church.

A graveside committal service will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2023, in Wood Memorial Park, conducted by Dr. Michael Hamlet.

The family will be at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Dr. Michael Hamlet.
