Mary Catherine Henson Cunningham, 83, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on June 21, 2012 at her home after an extended illness.
She was born May 28, 1929 in the Jordan community of Greenville County, South Carolina to the late Broadus D. Henson and Gertrude Fisher Henson.
Mary was an elementary school teacher for 23 years, having graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1950.
She was also a self-employed peach farmer and sold peaches directly to the public. She served as Sunday School Secretary at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Greer, South Carolina for many years.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Morris D. Cunningham of the home; three sons, Marion (Denise) Cunningham, Mitchell (Renee) Cunningham and Michael (Lisa) Cunningham all of Greer; four grandchildren, Brian (Elizabeth) Cunningham, Leigh Anne (Daniel) McGill, Bronwyn Cunningham, and Davion Cunningham; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Maurice Henson and William Henson.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Mark Smith and Rev. Delano McMinn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held 12:45-1:45 p.m. Saturday at the church.
The family is at the home.
