John Terrell Rush, 83, passed away on October 15, 2022 at his home in Greer, South Carolina surrounded by his family.

He was born on June 2, 1939 in Europa, Mississippi to James Reese and Mary Bernice Rush.

John graduated with a BA from Millsaps College, and then earned a Masters of Divinity from Duke University.

He served in the South Carolina Methodist Conference beginning in 1966, and was a minister at Greer United Methodist Church for nine years where, after retirement, he was awarded with the honorific Minister Emeritus.

Surviving:

John leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Elaine Witcher Rush, three children, Rebecca Rush Wray (Ron), Karen Rush Whaley (Nathan) and Holly Rush Threatt (Leon), four grandchildren, Christopher Wray (Christina), Katie Wray, Isabel Sherrill and Reese Sherrill, and his beloved dog, Winston Rush.

Funeral Services:

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church. The service will be conducted by Rev. Perry Evatt and Rev. Joe Cate.

Time with the family will take place immediately following the service in the sanctuary at Memorial UMC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund, 201 N. Main Street, Greer, SC 29650.
