Virgil Holmes Meeks, 85, of 101 W. Fox Ridge Drive, husband of Carolyn Parks Meeks, died January 17, 2015 at the Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills.

A native of Stockbridge, Georgia, he was a son of the late Isaiah Philip and Marguerite Hughes Meeks, a well regarded craftsman, U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a faithful Christian and member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

His first wife was the late Ozelle Eskew Meeks.

Surviving also are a daughter and son-in-law, Anne M. and Rick McKinney of Greer; a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Ginger Meeks of Myrtle Beach; Carolyn's children, Rene' Coryell of Summerville, Jerri Parks of Norfolk, VA, Cheryl Parks of Danville, VA and Lance Parks of Easley; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Philip and Isabell Meeks of Macon, GA and Walter and Barbara Meeks of Fairburn, GA; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ellen and Jim Thompson of Fairburn, GA and Katina and Clarence Davis of Colorado Springs, CO; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Todd Johnson, Dr. Drew Hines.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the Wood Mortuary.

The family is at their respective homes.
