Daniel Martinez from Greer is among five students from Greenville Technical College that will travel to Istanbul over spring break thanks to a travel scholarship made possible by Mary Louise Mims.

The students are part of a 10-person group traveling with sociology professor Margaret Taylor on a photojournalism adventure. The participants will compare American life to Turkish life through development of a photo journal.

Scholarship recipients are Martinez, Rosa Guild (Easley), Jaton Albritton (Greenville), Katie Baker (Mauldin) and Valerie Wiser (Simpsonville).

Each scholarship is valued at $700, which will cover a significant portion of the $1,900 the trip is expected to cost.
