The space shuttle Discovery attached to its 747 transport aircraft passes over Washington, D.C., on its final flight today.



The space shuttle Discovery attached to its 747 transport aircraft passes over Washington, D.C. today.

 

The shuttle will become an exhibit at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. The Discovery, along with the rest of the shuttle fleet, has been retired from active service after 32 years of operations.

A Walk of Honor will take place Saturday, May 6 at the Village Hospital Greer Family Fest at City Park at 7:30 p.m. to honor active and veteran military personnel. Aaron Tippin will perform at 8 p.m.
