Walmart, the nation’s No. 1 retailer and grocery chain, will put its second Neighborhood Market just minutes from its first that was launched in South Carolina Wednesday in Greer.
The second Walmart Neighborhood Market is being built only 7.57 miles from Greer’s location at 805 West Wade Hampton, Blvd., that opened to much fanfare Wednesday morning.
Funnelicious will be featured on a Travel Channel episode of Deep Fried Paradise 3 on Feb. 27 at 11 p.m. Repeats will air during the week.
The show is a celebration of deep-fried concoctions throughout the nation.
Greer’s Walmart Neighborhood Market will set a sales record today. And tomorrow, the next day and every day until the next branded grocery store comes to South Carolina to take its shot at Greer’s opening day sales.
Mayor Rick Danner, speaking on behalf of Greer, welcomed the Neighborhood Market to Greer and its initial sojourn into the state. The traditional ribbon cutting gave way to the first customers to enter the store at 8 a.m. Many had waited since 7 a.m. in temperatures in the mid-20s for the doors to open.
Ryan’s is offering Lent-friendly dishes for its customers every Friday during dinner until Easter. Buffets, Inc., headquartered in Greer, is making the offer available for all its restaurants including HomeTown Buffet, and Old Country Buffet.
“Our restaurants are known for giving families a lot of choices to enjoy,” said Jason Abelkop, Chief Marketing Officer for Buffets, Inc. “Whether it’s during Lent or any time of year, we can help families satisfy their culinary needs and cravings.”
Kirsten Tucker, manager of Walmart Neighborhood Market, spent part of Wednesday steering customers out of the store.
Residents from Greenville and Spartanburg counties were lured to the store when they received invitations of its opening. Only the invitation included the wrong date.
Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos will join Taco Bell’s menu on March 7.
Taco Bell reported it plans to support the product’s launch with its largest marketing campaign in history, topping the launch of the original Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Tacos.

A celebration featuring store associates, Mayor Rick Danner and other local dignitaries will participate in a ceremony that includes a ribbon cutting at 7:30 a.m. The store, at 805 W. Wade Hampton Blvd., is officially scheduled to open at 8 a.m.
Upstate Nutrition / Plate 108 opened the first cooking and entertainment venue in Greer Tuesday.
The grand opening, at 108 Poinsett Street, gave visitors a smorgasbord of tastes with nutrition its focus and with artful presentations. Visitors were still hovering near the 9 p.m. closing.

The third restaurant under the VandenBerghe’s brand will open April 1 in Spartanburg at 148 West Main Street. It will occupy the 3,500-square-foot historic Citizens and Southern National Bank Building on Morgan Square.
