Apopka's Darlington playing career apparently is over after second concussion

Zack Darlington’s speech pattern has been altered and he stutters at points. He suffered his second concussion in a nationally televised football game at Byrnes High School Aug. 24.

Zack Darlington’s football playing career for Apopka (Fla.) High School apparently ended in a nationally televised game at Byrnes High School on Aug. 24.

Darlington, who already had suffered his first concussion on June 7, made contact with a Byrnes player and was driven out of bounds. He landed backwards hitting his head on the ground, TV cameras showed.

Physical high school practices may become a thing of the past

AEDs scheduled to be placed in high traffic city venues

The AED has become commonplace in schools, airports, shopping centers, commercial buildings and other public venues.

Portable life saving automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are likely to become part of Greer’s city buildings.

“We are getting more people using our public facilities and it’s becoming more a community standard,” City Administrator Ed Driggers said. “The concern is liability.”
