Teens and young adults facing their own cancer battles will soon have a place to congregate among their peers in Greenville.
Bon Secours St. Francis Health System, along with national nonprofit Teen Cancer America, announced plans Wednesday to open a new inpatient Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) cancer unit at its facility in downtown Greenville. It will be the first dedicated cancer center for this age group (15-39) in the Carolinas and the nation’s eighth when completed.

GHS will host a hiring event for nurses Tuesday, July 11 from 2-5 p.m. at Greer Memorial Hospital, 830 S. Buncombe Road.
Greenville Health System and Palmetto Health have agreed to come together to create a new, not-for-profit, locally governed health company designed to shape and lead the future of health care for all South Carolinians.
Through this affiliation, the new company will improve the patient experience, clinical quality and access to care, and address rising health care costs.
