Kody Young, making his public singing debut, won Greer Idol Teen last year, $500 and the hearts of a lot of young girls.
The Greer Idol finalists have been announced with 10 vying for the Greer Idol title and 12 for Greer Idol Teen.
Kieffer Mendoza won Greer Idol and Kody Young, making his public singing debut, won Greer Idol Teen last year. They earned $1,500 and $500, respectively. The contest was shortened to three weeks when rain wiped out two of the scheduled performances.
This year’s finalists will follow the same format as last year – they will make their first appearance together at Freedom Blast, June 28 at 6 p.m. at City Park. The music genre has traditionally been patriotic, with the singers choosing the song. City officials have not announced the entertainment for Freedom Blast.
The Zac Brown Tribute Band 20 Ride will headline the Freedom Blast musical lineup.
Idol performers will skip Friday, July 4 and resume competition weekly on Fridays at Tunes in the Park, 6-10 p.m. Admission is free.
The final four weeks feature beach and rock and roll bands scheduled.
