Preston B. Johnson, who played an impactful role for Disabled American Veterans, died Wednesday. He was 70.

Johnson was Vice President of the D.A.V. of South Carolina. He traveled throughout the state and was a significant contributor to disabled veterans.

He traveled to the home of veterans and also set up a mobile trailer contributed by the Greer Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class XXXII, at festivals and patriotic celebrations.

“Isn’t this the most beautiful thing (mobile trailer) you ever saw,” Johnson said of the presentation by the Greer Chamber during the 2012 Greer Family Fest at City Park.

Johnson was also one of the hosts and an adviser for Sen. Tim Scott’s visit to Greer City Hall to announce an initiative to provide homes and jobs for the veterans who were homeless.

Johnson’s obituary is here.
