The Pride of Riverside Marching Band won for best music and best percussion in the Boiling Springs Festival of Bands Saturday.
It was the first competition for Quintus F. Wrighten, Jr., band director. Riverside finished third in Class V. York was first and Easley was second.
Golfers are invited to participate in the 10th Annual Cops for Tots Charity Golf tournament scheduled Thursday, Oct. 23 at Greer Country Club.
The Greer Police Department annually sponsors the tournament, its major fundraiser, to purchase gifts for under privileged children in need in the greater Greer area. The GPD invites families to submit applications for the Cops for Tots program based on family income. More than 300 families are helped annually.
Students at Riverside Middle are working on duets in the guitar class this year with teacher Rudge Arnold.
Guitar has been a popular class and students are excited about the opportunity to learn guitar at school.

Woodmont won its first game of the season in a lightning delayed game, beating Riverside 21-14 Friday night at The Reservation.
Riverside quarterback Ryan Cerino threw a 29-yard scoring pass to Will Ulrich and Emanuel Jackson produced an electric 94-yard TD runback of the second half kickoff for the Warriors' touchdowns.

Tracy Rucker, Brent Delahoussaye, Marc Young, Jake Johnson and Terry Archenhold were inducted into the Riverside Athletic Hall of Fame last Friday.
The five new members were honored with a dinner at the school and recognition at halftime of the Greer versus Riverside football game.

Seventh-ranked Greer beat cross-town rival Riverside Friday night in a non-region game, 35-7, at Riverside High School.
Greer is 2-0 and travels to Union County in the Jacket Bowl next week. Riverside (1-1) will host Woodmont at the Reservation.
