The largest single donation in Greenville Little Theatre’s 92-year history was bequeathed by long-time patrons.

The estate of Martha and William Power gifted $410,000 to the GLT Endowment. The GLT endowment is $910,000, of which interest from the endowment is used to support programming each year.

The GLT Endowment will be named the William and Martha Power Fund for Artistic Excellence.

Martha Power was a graduate of Bessie Tift College and earned her Masters of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. William Power was a 1929 graduate of Furman University, and a World War II veteran of the United States Army.

The Powers were long-time patrons who loved attending Greenville Little Theatre productions. After her husband Bill passed away, Martha continued to attend Sunday matinees with friends.

“Mr. and Mrs. Power have left an incredibly generous gift that will benefit the theatre for generations to come,” Allen McCalla, Artistic Director, said. “Their legacy and love for the arts will certainly be carried on through GLT.”
