Chapman (1-1) at Blue Ridge (2-0)

Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

LAST WEEK: Blue Ridge scored a 27-6 road victory over Class 4A J.L. Mann, giving the Tigers a pair of wins over 4A opponents this season. Against J.L. Mann, sophomore QB Ty Montgomery connected with senior WR Brennen Griffin nine times for 139 yards . . . Chapman handed first-year head coach Mark Hodge his first victory with the Panthers, a 13-10 home win over Travelers Rest thanks to special teams. Chapman's Traves Smith returned a kickoff for a touchdown and Hezekiah Williams blocked a game-tying field-goal attempt in the final seconds to preserve the win.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:?"We were the ones who stopped our own drives turning the ball over and silly penalties. We've really got to clean this act up or it's going to come back to bite us." – Blue Ridge head coach Wade Cooper on his team's play after last week's win at J.L. Mann.

THE RUNDOWN: The Tigers and Panthers are familiar foes as former members of Region III-3A, but have moved to separate regions this season. Still, the rivalry lives on. Blue Ridge pounded Chapman 62-10 last year, but the Panthers came away with a 30-28 win in 2010. The Tigers, who have scored 27 points in each of their first two games, may need to be prepared for a shootout. The Panthers scored 48 points in a Week 1 loss to Chesnee but gave up 55. Chapman also allowed Travelers Rest RB Denzel Dennis to run for 229 yards on 33 carries in last week's victory.
