Greer CPW and Greenville-Spartanburg Airport District has agreed on a lease with the option to purchase approximately 5.07 acres for a substation to serve east Greer. Commissioners at Tuesday’s meeting also approved a low bid of $684,250 for a Bent Creek pump station upgrade.

The substation property is in Spartanburg County near Victor Hill Road and Hendrix Road. The Inland Port and the BMW Manufacturing warehouse are nearby.

The substation will serve the growing east side of Greer with 2,500 acres on nine tracts of property identified for industrial and manufacturing development by the GSP land use study in 2012.

Jeff Tuttle, general manager for Greer Commission of Public Works, said the approximately year-long project may begin by the end of this summer.

• Commissioners also approved a resolution for the purchase of a 0.19-acre tract at 103 Lake Avenue in Greer to be used for future expansion. The purchase price of $20,000 plus closing costs was approved by commissioners.
