Jason Farmer finished third in the Best Bagger Competition in Amelia Island, Fla.

Farmer represented Quality Food of Greer after winning a state qualifying competition in Hartwell, Ga.

“Third place isn’t exactly exciting but it is better than being last. When I got home the Quality Foods staff said that they were proud of me,” Farmer said.

“The competition went great. It is definitely something not everyone gets to do,” said Farmer.“The atmosphere was crazy and loud. Having everyone cheer for you and watch you was the best part.”

Baggers were judged in four categories, speed, weight, appearance of the bagger and technique. It was a close competition with winner Kevin Davis a 10th of a point better than runnerup Edlyn Seraphin. Davis won a cash prize and will continue on to Las Vegas and will compete in the National Grocers Association Best Bagger Championship competition.
