Micah Williams of Greer Middle College was honored at City Council Tuesday night for winning the state Class A boys cross country championship.
Williams will be remembered historically as the first athlete to win a state championship for GMC in any sport.
Williams ran 15:35 to beat the runner-up by more than one minute.
The Greer Middle College boys won the team event.
