Daniel Gossett, Byrnes and Clemson standout pitcher, signed with the Oakland A's for a $750,000 bonus.
Major League Baseball’s assigned value for the second round pick is $873,000. Gossett was taken 65th overall in the baseball draft.
Gossett, 6-foot, 180-pounds, was 23-9 with a 2.81 earned run over during his three years with the Clemson Tigers. He pitched 281 innings, struck out 285 and walked 107.
Gossett has not been assigned to a minor league team.
The A’s agreed to terms with Matt Chapman, their top pick in the draft. Chapman, a third baseman out of Cal State Fullerton, signed for a $1.75 million bonus.
