The City of Greer recorded another year of record sales with $1.35 billion in gross retail sales for fiscal year 2019.
The record represents combined sales from Greenville and Spartanburg County.
• $794,275,439.16, Greenville County portion
• $556,981,618.50, Spartanburg County portion
• $1,351,257,058 total retail sales fiscal 2019
The record sales are an increase of 5.4 percent compared to fiscal year 2018 reported record sales of $1.281 billion.
The thousands of new jobs reportedly created in Greer have created new single-family homes in the city, according to the city.
City officials were ecstatic with the new sales report considering downtown Greer is undergoing a multi-million dollar streetscape project. Select, a restaurant located at the former BIN112, reported better than anticipated sales, despite the downtown renovation.
New restaurant and retail areas along Wade Hampton Boulevard, added retail/medical development near Riverside High School and additional neighborhoods developing were reasons given for the additional spending.
Greer topped the billion dollars gross sales mark in 2015 and except for a small dip in 2018 has been on a record-breaking course each year.
