Hannon shares Greenville County Player of Year Award

Greer High School's Reese Hannon and Christ Church’s Hunter Townes were named Greenville County Co-Players of the Year at the Greenville Touchdown Club awards banquet Monday night.

Hannon and Townes shared the Kendall-Moore Trophy presented at the Buncombe Street United Methodist Church in Greenville. Hannon led Greer to the Region III-3A championship and into the state playoffs. Townes led Christ Church to a 13-1 record and the Class A Division II state championship.

Other county awards were presented to:

• Coach of the year: Carolina head coach Mark Hodge for an 8-5 record and into the third round of the playoffs.

• State player of the year: Blue Ridge quarterback Caleb Rowe

• Banks McFadden college players of the year: Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins and South Carolina defensive end Melvin Ingram.
