Bradford rushes Greer past Laurens

E.J. Bradford accounted for 204 total yards – 196 rushing – and scored two touchdowns to lead Greer to a 37-21 victory over Laurens at Dooley Field Friday night.

 

The game was all offense with both teams combining for 824 yards – Laurens 421, Greer 403. There were 126 total offensive plays – Laurens 71, Greer 55.

Greer is 3-2 overall and Laurens is 2-3.

Bradford scored Greer’s first two touchdowns, in the first quarter, to help the Yellow Jackets build a 14-0 lead. Greer’s first TD by Bradford came on the Yellow Jackets’ first play from scrimmage, a 62-yard run, 13 seconds into the game.

Greer’s second first-quarter score was an 11-play drive, that started from its four-yard line. Bradford carried the ball into the end zone on a seven-yard run. Elijah Honeycutt connected on four of his five extra point attempts and added a 34-yard field for Greer’s second quarter points.

Bradford averaged 8.9 yards on his 22 carries and added eight yards on his one pass reception.

Brylan Jones scored on a five-yard run in the third quarter, Jaleel Skinner caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Hollis Crosby and Darius Griffin connected with Miller Dearmond on a 39-yard scoring pass play.

Jeremiah Fuller led Laurens with 116 yards rushing and a five-yard TD run in the second quarter to pull the Red Raiders within 17-7 at halftime. Quarterback James Rawl threw scoring passes in the third and fourth quarter. Rawl connected with Fuller on a 38-yard scoring play in the third quarter and found Cayson Elledge on a seven-yard TD strike.

Greer plays at Boiling Springs next Friday and ends its regular season against rival Blue Ridge on Nov. 6 at Dooley Field.
