Monty DuPuy, longtime radio/TV personality, dies

Monty DuPuy, a Greenville icon in radio and TV, died Saturday, Dec. 6. He was 85.

DuPuy was a radio personality for WFBC and weatherman for NBC affiliate WYFF (formerly WFBC). His children’s program, "Monty’s Rascal's" in the 1960s and 1970s, remains one of the most popular in Greenville broadcasting.

DuPuy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Miriam Evans DuPuy, and daughters Margo Stewart of Greer, Mary DuPuy Jennings of Simpsonville, and Melissa DuPuy of Nashville, Tenn.

A celebration of DuPuy's life will be held Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at Travelers Rest United Methodist Church.
