Restaurateurs Abdi and Shahn Nasehi have secured a lease for the property that formerly housed MiMi’s Japanese Steak House until it closed in October last year.

The lease for the 3,500 square-foot restaurant building is with an option to buy.

The Nasehi’s have owned, operated and sold various restaurant concepts in Columbia and Jacksonville, Fla. Their most recent was Olive Mediterranean Grill in Columbia, in which they just sold.

The Nasehis opened their downtown Columbia restaurant to move closer to their South Carolina relatives.

Abdi Nasehi will bring offerings like Persian cuisine, from his roots.

The Columbia restaurant served pitas featuring lamb and falafel, piatters with Moroccan chicken, Ghormeh Sabzi and Greek and Mediterranean salads.

“This is a great win for downtown Greer,” Mark Griffin Principal and broker-in-charge stated. “Downtown Greer has seen a significant uptick in economic development of recent. New restaurant, retail, and mixed use concepts on the drawing board solidify downtown Greer’s emergence as a vibrant southern city wedged between Greenville and Spartanburg.”

Olive Mediterranean Grill is tentatively scheduled to open in September.

It’s the third restaurant to occupy that location. Bistro 107 had difficulty remaining open when South Main Street was undergoing construction and prevented customers entering from the main entrance.

Mimi Choi, general manager of Mimi’s said the community’s support and customer base was solid. Hiring and maintaining quality staff proved to be its demise.
