Bella Muntean, a freshman at Riverside High School, has passed away after her battle with cancer.

Covenant United Methodist Church posted the news on Facebook. Details about her service will be given at a later date.

Bella was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of cancer that starts in the bones, in January 2017.

Bella posted an Instagram several days ago saying she is still on oxygen after her lungs were healing from inflammation over the weekend from coughing so much.

She posted a hopeful message about being able to be taken off oxygen. She said in her last post on Instagram she was going to meet with a new doctor in Atlanta.

A few weeks ago, Bella posted on Instagram that she had begun internally bleeding in her lungs. The doctors told Bella the tumors had grown, and that treatment was not working. She was placed under hospice care.

A vigil in Muntean's honor will be held Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church on Old Spartanburg Road in Greer.
