Sensational senior running back Quez Nesbitt officially totaled 290 yards in Greer’s 42-3 victory over Travelers Rest on Friday, Greer Head Coach Will Young confirmed Sunday afternoon.
While the discussion was short-lived on Nesbitt's total rushing yardage Friday night, Young was asked to reflect on the value of the his star player.
Blue Ridge, Greer and Pickens have made Region II-3A a three-team race at the mid-point of the high school football season.
If the next two weeks of conference play find the trio atop the standings, the final three weeks will feature a round-robin schedule that will determine the Region championship.
Quez is full speed ahead, Greer beats Travelers Rest
Quez Nesbitt, the Greer High School senior running back, took matters virtually in his own hands and feet in the second half running for 290 yards and scoring four touchdowns in a 42-3 Region II-3A victory over Travelers Rest.

Coach Justin Funderburk along with his coaching staff is building a new foundation with the 65 players on the Greer Middle School D team.
“Our goal is to develop these student athletes to a level where they can contribute to Greer’s varsity program once they become ninth graders,” Funderburk said. The D tea has standout players that have been showing leadership qualities and Yellow Jacket potential.

The Greer Yellow Jackets find themselves on the road for the second time this season Friday at Travelers Rest.
The teams are traveling in opposite directions with Greer winning three straight after an opening season loss and TR losing two straight after winning its first two games.

Anne Kelsey-Zibert was honored as the Greenville County Teacher of the Year Tuesday at the Rotary Club of Greenville. The club helps provide the financial award.
The teachers of the year were announced in August.
Will Strickland, 16, (right) of Greer finished in a tie for second at the 15-18 division of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tournament (HJGT) completed Saturday at Red Bridge Golf Course in Locust, N.C.
Strickland has played eight events and made cuts in each tournament. He has accumulated 1,250 points which has him ranked 23rd on the tour.

There’s some good news coming out of the Greer football camp.
“We had a great week of practice, all of our kids performed really well. Enthusiasm has been high,” Greer Head Coach Will Young said.
Psst. There are free barbecue sandwiches Friday at the lower parking lot at Dooley Field. They are prepared by a competitive barbecue cooker. Pass it on.
Look for the Greer First Baptist signage on the tailgating tent with youth running around playing and tossing the football. Teens will be lounging in trucks, more than legal limit but the vehicles are parked. And spirited students will be getting face- and body-painted for the night’s game to cheer on the Greer Yellow Jackets.
