High schools take the baseball field one week after snow

Pitcher Brandon Wortkoetter got in some work Tuesday when temperatures warmed one week after five inches of snow covered most of Greer.

Greer High School’s baseball team played a preseason game with Greer Middle Charter High School Tuesday, taking advantage of warmer temperatures.

Pitcher Brandon Wortkoetter, a sophomore, got some innings of work pitching for Greer.

Greer JV girls win conference title, complete season undefeated

The Greer High School girls junior varsity basketball team completed an unbeaten season Saturday, dispatching Greenville, 46-21, and won the conference championship.

Greer finished the season 17-0, winning its regular season and conference championship.

Awards distributed to Greer football's finest

Rolland Nall receives the outstanding offensive lineman award from Greer Head Coach Will Young.

The Greer High School football team had its annual awards ceremony Monday at the high school auditorium.

Guest speaker Reese Hannon played quarterback for the Greer Yellow Jackets and is a two-year starter for Furman Univeristy.

Greer boys claim Junior High County basketball championship

The Greer Junior High boys team is the 2013-2014 Greenville County basketball champions. 

The Greer Junior High School boys basketball team won the Greenville County Championship.

Greer gave Bryson its first loss in two year in the championship game, 46-40. Bryson beat Greer last year in the championship game.

Greer's Gregory is on roster for College All Star Game
FEB 6, 2014

Tymeco Gregory, football standout at Greer High School and Wofford College, will be playing for the Danny Ford-coached Nationals All Star team.

Danny Ford and Willie Jeffries have their teams for the College All Star Bowl being played Friday, Feb. 14 at Furman University.

The 50-man rosters for the Americans, which are being led by Jeffries, and the Nationals, coached by Ford, can be found here.

Nesbitt signs with JC power Georgia Military College

Quez Nesbitt signed a grant-in-aid Thursday to play football at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Ga.

Nesbitt, Greer High School’s most prolific running back with yards gained (more than 5,000), average per carry (10.5 yards) and touchdowns will join a football program that finished the 2013 season ranked No. 3 and lost to No. 1-ranked East Mississippi in the national championship junior college game in the Mississippi Bowl.

Taylor Ross ends reign as Miss Greater Greer Teen on Saturday

Lanie Hudson and Taylor Ross will end their reign as Miss Greater Greer and Miss Greater Greer teen Saturday night at the 55th Miss Greater Greer pageant.

Seven miss contestants and eight teens will vie for the 2014 crowns and the opportunity represent Greer in the Miss South Carolina pageant June 23-28 at Township Auditorium in Columbia.

Sara Ashleigh Ponder won the 2014 Miss Greer High School pageant Saturday at the high school. Ponder, a senior and cheerleader, won casual wear in Saturday’s preliminary. She swept Friday’s talent and evening gown preliminaries.

Madison Bates won Miss Photogenic, Tara Hawkins, Miss Congeniality and Caroline Brown was Saturday’s talent winner.
