Lois Jean Struck, passed away on August 30, 2020, of Taylors, SC.
She was the daughter of William Henry Brown and Helen Alice Krieg Brown born on December 15, 1935. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert "Bob" E. Struck and her brother, William "Bill" E. Brown of Hilton Head, SC.
Lois grew up in Little Falls, New Jersey, married in 1958, and moved to Ramsey, NJ in 1960.
She graduated from Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School in 1954 and worked on Wall Street in New York City at Brown Brothers Harriman prior to raising her children.
She was an elementary school secretary for many years in Ramsey, New Jersey and also in Fellsmere, Florida.
In 1991, they moved from Ramsey, New Jersey to Sebastian, Florida and then to Taylors, South Carolina, where she had lived for the past 14 years.

Syble Thompson Smith was born on October 5, 1929, the third child of the late Ruth Barnett Thompson and Wade Maxwell Thompson in Taylors, SC and passed away on August 25, 2020.
Syble was very proud that she was raised on the Southern Bleachery Mill Village in Taylors. She loved talking about times growing up with many, many kids on that village and making lifelong friends from that era of her life.
For anyone that knew her she sure loved a great joke and her memory could be jogged very easily from a story and tell a joke that she hadn?t thought of in years.
She graduated from Taylors High School in 1946 and Draughon?s Business School. Syble retired from Fluor Daniel where she had numerous friends that were like family to her. Syble was a charter member of Five Forks Baptist Church in Simpsonville, SC.
From her first marriage to Izzie Phillips came two daughters she adored! Kitty Diane Phillips Ayers who passed away on March 15, 1974 and Sara Adella "Dell" Phillips Kapp. Syble was later married to Franklin Smith who predeceased her in 1996.

Former South Carolina Representative Joseph George Mahaffey, Sr. "Joe Mahaffey", 81, husband of Alinda Wood Mahaffey, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2020, after a life well lived.
Joe was born June 10, 1939, in Greer, SC, to the late Bertha Pearl Howell Mahaffey and Joseph Madison "Mack" Mahaffey. Joe would never know his father, as his father passed away when he was an infant.
Joe was a 1958 graduate of Byrnes High School and a 1964 graduate of Clemson University in Textile Management. He had a very successful career in the textile industry, working for textile companies in South Carolina and Tennessee.
While in Tennessee, Joe also started and founded M & M Income Tax Services in 1971. In the early 1980?s, he developed Pic-A-Flick Video, a chain of video stores throughout the Carolinas.
In 1996, Joe retired from business upon selling the video stores and tax business and focused on raising cattle on the farm where he was born.
In 2001, Joe was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives, where he served the great State of South Carolina for three terms (six years).
Joe was a devout Christian and a member of the Washington Baptist Church of Greer, SC. He had a deep faith and focused on his relationships with Christ, family and friends.
Joe had a passion for life, which was evident during his last few years with the enthusiasm he had for his honeybees.

A native of Greer, daughter of the late William Ethel and Beulah Moore Tate, she was a retired employee of Community Cash and was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Spartanburg.
She was also predeceased by her first husband, Dan Snyder, Sr.

John Albert Simmons, husband of the late Nancy Kendrick Simmons, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in his home on the morning of Monday, August 3rd, 2020.
Born on July 15th, 1929 in Surrey, England, John survived the London Blitz and emigrated to the U.S. in 1952. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and obtained his citizenship before serving a tour of duty in Korea.
After his service to his country, John settled in his new home in the Upstate of South Carolina where he became a successful businessman, entrepreneur, and land surveyor for many national and international corporations that settled in the Upstate.
Soon after arriving in the Upstate, John was quickly smitten with a young Furman student, Nancy Kendrick. The two were married November 14, 1958 for 61 years.
John was actively involved in his adopted community, taking an active role at both Memorial United Methodist Church and later at Greer First Baptist Church.
He also served as a board member and longtime volunteer with Greer Community Ministries. A consummate storyteller, he was always willing to make time to share a story, a laugh, or to brighten someone's day.
John was predeceased by his three brothers and two sisters.

Dr. Joel Hill Fisher, 79, passed away on August 4, 2020 at Greenville Memorial Hospital from a massive heart attack.
He was a native of Gastonia, NC and a son of the late Rev. Robert Grant Fisher and Nina Mae Hill Fisher.
Mr. Fisher was a former member of Taylors First Baptist Church.
Joel graduated from Carson-Newman University and earned a doctorate from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
He pastored churches in Mississippi, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Dillon, SC.
He was a great sports fan, having played and coached. He was a lifelong Tennessee Volunteers fan.
His other passion was western movies.
Joel was married to Amelia Lorene Fisher for 27 years. They were not only married, they were best friends.
