Robin Byouk, director of Greer Cultural Arts, told GreerToday, photographers Rachel Babb and Blaine Owens of Greenville and Amy Bright, a belly dancer and the designer of jewelry, are the first three artists working out of the newly renovated building.
Three more artists will be selected from among 10 portfolios, according to Byouk.
The city is holding an open house on Nov. 3, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. to showcase the studio spaces, meet the artists, demonstrations and an art exhibit. Jim Quick and the Coastline band will provide the entertainment. Food and drink will be available for purchase on site.
The arts facility is at 100 Davis Ave. It will also be home to an art gallery and Greer Cultural Arts Council business offices.
Future plans include space for the performing arts, including music classrooms, dance classrooms and a theater space with stage and lighting. The site was the original home of the South Carolina Children’s Theatre.
