Nancy Godbey and Irish Setter Geisha took first place in the Utility division of the AKC Classic at Orlando, Fla., last week.

Annette Sizemore and Golden Retriever Duncan took ninth in the Novice division. Irish Setter Geisha was also the highest scoring dog in her breed.

Dog Trainers Workshop, a full-service training and boarding facility based in Fountain Inn, has fielded 12 obedience teams at the annual AKC Obedience Classic competition.

“Teams from Dog Trainers Workshop have been attending the Classic for the past five years," said Connie Cleveland, CEO and founder of Dog Trainers Workshop. "In all five years, either I or a student has won a division. I am very pleased with that level of consistent quality and it speaks well of both our trainers and students' dedication and commitment to excellence. I'm also thrilled at how many students compete in national shows."

"I grew up in a home with a plaque hanging on the kitchen wall that said 'To win the game is great, to play the game is greater, to love the game is greatest.' That's what we value for all of our students – to play the game, to be in the ring of competition, and to love the game more than the winning."

Competition training information is available at 864-862-8626 or dogtrainersworkshop.com.
