Greer CPW issues boil water alert to affected customers
The Greer Commission of Public Works (Greer CPW) water system advises the customers of its water system to vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute before drinking or cooking until notified otherwise.

This advisory applies only to the following:

Subdivisions affected

Chartwell Estates

Riverwood Farms

Shelburne Farms

Riverside Glenn

Riverside Chase

Brushy Meadows

Lismore Park

Highland Parc

Carmen Glenn

River Birch

Reserve at Riverside

Hammett Crossing

Hammett Grove

Spring Crossing

Riverside Townes

Saint James Place

Lismore Village

Granite Woods

Roads affected include:

Gibb Shoals Road

Hammett Bridge Road

Brushy Creek Road

At approximately 4:57 p.m. a vehicle hit a fire hydrant in the area. This damage resulted in the loss of pressure and water service to many customers feeding the affected areas.

There has been no confirmed contamination of the system. However, because of this loss of pressure, the potential of contamination exists.

Also, any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.

The CPW Water Department has repaired the damage and restored full water service to all affected areas.

Questions should be directed to Greer CPW operations center at 864-848-5500.
