Greer High School Principal Marion Waters underwent double bypass surgery today and is resting at the Greenville Hospital System’s Heart and Vascular Institute.

Waters told the school’s administrators and teachers in late September he was going into the Heart Center this past Monday, anticipating a stent to be inserted. The procedure was canceled and the double bypass was scheduled for today.

Athletic officials at tonight's football game, won by Greer 67-0 over Berea,  said they have been told Waters is scheduled to be back in the office in 4-6 weeks. “He had the surgery today and is doing well,” Greer Head Football Coach Will Young said.

Waters, who sits at the main gate taking tickets and greeting fans at home games, was noticeably missing with parents and former students and alumni asking his whereabouts.
