Jeff Young, former Riverside baseball coach, died Friday.

 

The Greenville Drive remembered long-time baseball coach Jeff Young before Saturday’s game.

Young died Friday about 1 p.m. when he collapsed and died after doing yard work, according to the Greenville County Coroner’s office.

Young coached baseball at Riverside and Greenville high schools among 20 years coaching high school, college and professional baseball.

Young had been serving as an instructor at Landon Powell’s Hit House. He was a co-founder of the West End Baseball Academy.

Young's coaching career:

• Managed District 7 to the Big League World Series Championship in 2008, 2011 and 2013.

• Riverside High School

• Greenville High School

• Cincinnati Moeller High School

• Atlanta Braves

• Cincinnati Reds

• Arizona Diamondbacks

• Furman University

• Emory University

• Presbyterian College

• University of Kentucky
