Jordan Barbare-Thompson, former competitive figure skater from Taylors, died Tuesday. She was 29.

Jordan Elizabeth Barbare-Thompson, a competitive figure skater from Taylors, died Tuesday. She was 29.

Barbare-Thompson began figure skating at the age of five at the Pavilion Ice Skating complex in Taylors. She tested and competed in Greenville, nationally and internationally.

Kitty Carruthers, former pairs Olympic Silver Medalist with her brother Peter, was among Barbare’s coaches.

Barbare-Thompson competed in events in Los Angeles, Houston, Duluth, Ga., U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Copenhagen, Denmark. She concentrated mostly in singles but competed in pairs in Los Angeles as a junior skater.

Barbare-Thompson graduated Wade Hampton High School.
